Endodermis definition

 

A layer of barell shaped cells surrounding stelar region of plant root is called endodermis.

Endodermal cells have water resistant suberin deposits on tangential and radial walls and is called casparian strips. It prevents the flow of water in certain regions to direct the conduction of water in apoplast path.
